      TOWN POINTS OF INTEREST

Looking for somewhere to go in your town? Well this page will show you where to go, when to go, and what services that spot provides for you.

Light House
Where: Random for each town, but always down by the sea.

Open: During the first two months of the year when Tortimer is on vacation.

Normally, you don't get to go into the lighthouse in your town, but when Tortimer leaves town for vacation in the first two months of the year, he leaves the responsibility of turning on the light in the lighthouse to you. Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but when you take on this task, you have to turn on the light every night during that week at 6 PM. If you forget to turn on the light for just one night, then you won't get one of the rewards that Tortimer offers when he gets back. Either a lighthouse model, or chocolates. If you yourself cannot turn on the lighthouse for whatever reason, it'd be a good idea to ask your friends in your town to do so, as you will both be able to get a reward then. So try and keep on tas overall when he gives you this mission.

Museum

more details
Located somewhere within your town is the museum, a place of bragging rights, beautiful display, and a place where you show off all the stuff you've collected, dug up, and caught. Each room has it's own subject, either bugs, fossils, fish, or paintings. When you find a fossil, send it to the Farway Museum in a letter and they will send it back identified. When it's identified, then you can donate it to the museum. It is open 24/7, even on holidays, so there is almost no delay. When every exhibit in the museum is full, you receive a museum model. Now won't that look nice in your home?

Employee: Blathers

Blathers is an owl that is asleep during the daytime (unless you wake him up) and is awake during the night. In order to contribute to the museum you must have the item in your inventory, and then talk to him saying you would like to make a donation.

Police Station

Where: It seems to be random, but for me, it's always been on the left side of the river.

Open: Always.

The police station is a good place to go when you want to get some information on things. If you talk to Copper in front of the police station, he'll give you some useful tips, such as who's in town this week (Crazy Redd, Saharah, Wendell, etc.). If you go in the police station, you'll find the lost and found. You can take the stuff in there, but don't take too many things that aren't your own (stuff that you dropped somewhere in town before but can't find it), because the villagers will begin to notice.

Employees: Copper and Booker

Copper is the police dog that is always outside of the police station. Talking to him will help you know if there are any going-ons or if anything is lost. The other employee is Booker, also a police dog. He is always inside and will tell you the instant you come in if there is anything lost or not.

Post office

Post Office Workers
Pete
Pelly
Phyllis

Pete is the mailbird for the post office. The only ways to see him is to mail five letters at once, and then walk out the door to see him fly away with a mailbag, or to go outside of your house and stand by the town's bulletin board at 5:00 P.M.

Pelly is a teller for the post office. She is kind and caring about the customers and what they want to get done while in the Post Office. Her shift is from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Like Pelly, Phyllis is also a teller for the post office. But, unlike Pelly, Phyllis is always grumpy whenever a customer comes in, and she can't wait for him/her to leave. Her shift is from 7:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M.

Where: In my experience, it has always been in the top row of acres.

Open: Always.

Obviously, this is the place to go when you want to send a letter to someone in town. This is also the place to go when you want to pay off a portion of your debt, or deposit some savings (after you've finished all your payments to Nook). You can send and save letters. The amount of letters you can send at a time is 5. When you are allowed to begin saving money in the post office, certain amounts of money saved there will get you certain rewards:

1,000,000 bells: tissue

10,000,000 bells: piggy bank

100,000,000 bells: mailbox

999,999,999 bells: post model.

The E-reader machine is also on the left side in the post office, use this to get many other rewards and such.

Tailor's shop

Where: In my experience, it's always been on the coast.

Open: 7 AM to 2 AM.

The Tailor's Shop is the place to go when you want to create patterns for clothes, umbrellas, wallpapers, carpets, etc. When you start a new game, there are already patterns on the umbrellas and shirts in the shop. If you want, you can replace those with your own patterns. You can also use your patterns on the flag on the island and on signposts that you can buy at Nook's. Sable (the girl using the sewing machine)is a bit apprehensive the first time you talk to her, but after you make a few patterns, she will warm up to you. Making a pattern on the Gamecube costs you 350 bells, but if you transfer the design tool to the GBA, you can make patterns for free and then upload them to the Gamecube later. There are 16 palettes to choose from, each with a different array of colours and shades. You can also scan e-cards and then send them to the Gamecube.

Employees: Sable and Mabel

Sable is the sister that is always behind the sewing machine in the back right corner of the shop. If you talk to her she is a little rude (which her sister gets on to her for), and will just continue with her sewing. Mabel is nicer, and you have to talk to her for a list of options.

Town Melody Board

Where: By the post office.

Open: Always.

The Town Melody board is the place where you can change the tune that you hear on the hour and when you play the instruments you place in your home. There is a standard musical scale on the board, and you can also scan e-cards to get special town melodies.

Be creative, and try to recreate songs that you love!

Train Station

Where: Acre A-3.

Open: Always.

A town is no good if you can't leave! So that's why they made the ability to be able to leave to a friend's town by way of a second memory card. It's extremely easy to travel, but when you're in another town, always remember to return to your town when you're done, instead of just shutting the Gamecube off, or you'll lose all the stuff you've gained during that playtime!

  Item id #13068

Wishing Well

Where: Random.

Open: Always.

At the wishing well, you can ask about two things: undelivered items and the quality of your town. When you ask about undelivered items, then the wishing well will ask if you have any undelivered items that you needed to deliver to someone who has left town, but never got the chance to. Then you will apologize and he will make sure the person gets it. When you ask about the town's quality, the Wishing Well may tell you about an acre that needs more work (less trees, more flowers, more trees, picking up garbage). Make sure to never plant too many trees, and make sure you have enough. Try to get a good amount of flowers in every acre you can as well. If you keep your town in perfect quality for ten days, then Farley will appear by the well and give you the unbreakable golden axe. Many events are held under the trees shade as well.
