Butch (Japanese name:ジョン, John) is a Cranky Dog Villager who made his very first appearance in Animal Crossing (GCN), followed by Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk.

Butch is a cranky dog, who tends to nag and complain about things. He isn't very fun to talk to, but he tends to be more mature and "adult - like" compared with other villagers. After getting to know him, he can become quite the friend!

Buck has a rather rough-looking exterior with a black head, black ears, and black tail. His snout is a light, muddy brown with an elongated stripe running up his face, following his eyebrows, arms and legs, and the end tips of his ears. He has a big nose and mouth curled into a pleasant smile, yet his oddly devious-looking eyes makes it look more mischievous than anything else.
