The Cockroach is most arguably one of the most common and cheaply-sold bugs in all Animal Crossing history!

[edit] How to Catch

The Cockroach can be caught in a number of ways, from finding it climbing the sides of tree trunks to crawling overtop of spoiled turnips that are unknowingly laid upon the ground. They’re quite easy to capture due to their slow reaction times and the fact that they can appear anytime, on any day. They made an appearance in Animal Crossing: City Folk by appearing in your house in twos, threes or fours after you sleep in your attic bed for too long.

[edit] Player

This is what your player says when you catch a Cockroach:

[edit] Animal Crossing

"Ewwwww!!!!! A cockroach! I'll just put it in my pocket!"

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

Oh, gross!!! Cockroach! But now he's mine! All mine!!!

[edit] Menu

When looking at the Cockroach in the bug menu it will say this:

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

They've existed for 300,000,000 years.

[edit] Museum

If you donate this bug to the Museum, Blathers will say this:

[edit] Animal Crossing

Hoo... Uh... Huh-hoo? Is that a cockroach?! Oh, how repugnant! How foul! The vileness! The putrescence! Hoooo-ecchh! I will NEVER understand why we're required to include cockroaches in our collection. It makes no sense. Well, who am I to question management? Hoo, indeed! And in any case, what's one more filthy insect, eh wot? Hoooo, my... I hate this part. I hear it wriggling in there...

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

NOOOOOOO! Hoo-rrific! Please. I must protest! This is a cockroach, and a fearsome one at that! I'm terribly sorry for my outburst, but I simply abhor the wretched things. I often wonder aloud why cockroaches are even part of the collection, actually. The decision-makers atop the corporate ladder often seem quite daft, eh wot? Blech... well, I suppose I must take this.

[edit] Real Life

In real life, the Cockroach species has weathered millions of years on this Earth dating back to prehistoric times. They are native to Africa and have and are strictly intolerant of cold temperatures, thus explaining their habit of making residence in homes more often than not.
