The Star, also known as Dancer on Stage, is a painting by french artist Edgar Degas. It was made in the year 1878 using pastel on paper. It's currently housed in Musée d'Orsay, Paris. This paintings shows a beautiful young dancer practicing on the stage from an elevated view. Degas always drew his dancers while they were practicing and did not make them stop and stay in still life position. He wanted to follow their every move and get it down on paper in a swift and timely manner because of he thought it was important to capture a person in their true form.
