The Darner Dragonfly is one of many dragonflies you will find flying throughout your Town, ready for the catch.

[edit] How to Catch

Like butterflies, the Darner Dragonfly can be caught with a precise and efficient swing of the Net as they can be found flying anywhere throughout the expanse of your Town. The upside is that unlike butterflies, they don't fly about as persistently and are easier to get the jump on.

[edit] Player

This is what your player says when you catch a Darner Dragonfly:

[edit] Animal Crossing

"I caught a darner dragonfly. Darn, I'm good!"

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

"I caught a darner dragonfly. Darn right, I did!"

[edit] Animal Crossing: City Folk

"I caught a darner dragonfly. It's darn cute!"

[edit] Menu

When looking at the Darner Dragonfly in the bug menu it will say this:

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

Look for the bull's-eye on their foreheads!

[edit] Animal Crossing: City Folk

These are called "mosquito hawks" for their predatory habits.

[edit] Museum

If you donate this bug to the Museum, Blathers will say this:

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

"Tell me, were you aware dragonflies lay their eggs in the water? They do. Juvenile dragonflies are called "nymphs", you know. And they're grotesque too... Yes, sadly, not even youth can render vile insects attractive, I'm afraid."

[edit] Animal Crossing: City Folk

At first glance, the darner dragonfly, like all dragonflies, appears to be quite a sleek bug, wot? But in its larval stage, this bug is a beastly little carnivore... I suppose if one were being eaten, one wouldn't care if whoever was doing the devouring looked sleek...

[edit] Real Life

In real life, the Darner Dragonfly is quite a common sight throughout the world, even if many don't notice. They make their habitats near ponds, lakes, and marshes.
