Dr. Shrunk makes his first appearance in Animal Crossing: Wild World and then continues to appear in its predecessor, Animal Crossing: City Folk.

Personality

Dr. Shrunk is a good man at heart. However, when he gets up on stage or tries to teach another an emotion, he starts to choke up and falter. He seems nervy and hesitant whenever he teaches you an emotion. He shows classic signs of stage fright. At the end of his little show, he laughs and claps at his own jokes and the audience doesn't. Some animals will comment that they like him and his shows, though. However, others won't hesitate to tell you that they weren't fond of his show.

Appearance

Dr. Shrunk does not look like any ordinary animal that you would see. This is because he is an axolotl. Axolotls are neotenic mole salamanders belonging to the Tiger Salamander complex. He is a pink color all around and has fins sticking out of his head. Dr. Shrunk has a unibrow and purple colored eyes. He has a curly red tuft of hair on his head. He wears a yellow suit with red circles covering it and a blue undershirt and tie, perhaps to try and fit his "joker" image. He always wear a big grin and has buck teeth. His tail is long and straight except for the big puff at the end of it.

Animal Crossing: Wild World

In Animal Crossing: Wild World, Dr. Shrunk will be kind enough to visit you on a random day of the week from Monday to Friday with the hours of 6:00am until 12:00am. He's a psychiatrist, a job that seems to fit him well enough. He will be wandering around your town. When you find him and talk to him, Dr. Shrunk will offer to teach you an emotion. In order to get a feel of how the process works, you will first be forced to learn Shyness. The next time he visits you will be able to choose from a variety of different emotions. There are 29 emotions Dr. Shrunk can teach you, however you may only have a maximum of four at a time.

Animal Crossing: City Folk

This time, Dr. Shrunk is a full time comedian. He works at the Marquee alongside Frillard at the city and is there almost everyday performing an emotion for you. The only time he takes a day off is when Frillard decides to show up and perform. Dr. Shrunk has decided that his career as a psychiatrist was not enough trill for him, so he decided to take it to the big stage to prove himself. He's still the same old Dr. Shrunk and will bomb on the stage, only this time in front of two or three animals plus yourself. Here is a list of the emotions he can teach you in Animal Crossing: City Folk. You still have a maximum of four that you can have on you at one time.
