The Mona Lisa painting is also known as La Gioconda. It was painted by Leonardo da Vinci in the 16th century in oil on a poplar panel. This painting was started in 1503 when the Italian Renaissance was happening. Several years later, Mona Lisa was complete. The painting is a portrait of a half-length woman whom is often described as ambiguous. Some speculate that the woman in the painting is actually Leonardo da Vinci as how he invisioned himself as a woman. The Mona Lisa painting to date is one of the most famous and well-known paintings today. When priced, the price of the Mona Lisa today would be around 700 million dollars.
