The Fly is one of the few bugs which can only be caught in the Animal Crossing franchise through use of more characteristically-suiting methods. It has appeared in all installments of the game so far.

[edit] How to Catch

Rather than being found flying where it will through the air, hanging from trees, or making themselves comfy upon planted flowers, the Fly can only be caught after it is drawn out into the open by leaving a piece of trash(a can, boot, or tire, each of which can be accidentally fished out of the river or ocean)on the ground for a certain period of time. Afterwards, you will encounter your little insect circling the particular piece of trash you placed, it’s only a simple swing of the Net from there.

[edit] Player

This is what your player says when you catch a Fly:

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

"I caught a fly... Buzz off!"

[edit] Animal Crossing: City Folk

I caught a fly... Stop buzzing in my face!

[edit] Menu

When looking at the Fly in the bug menu it will say this:

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

Disinfectant with alcohol is lethal to them.

[edit] Animal Crossing: City Folk

There is nothing more annoying than when these guys fly around your ear!

[edit] Museum

If you donate this bug to the Museum, Blathers will say this:

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

My largest complaint about these vile bugs are their filthy little feet, wot! Leaping about on my dinner! FOULNESS! UTTER FOULNESS! Blech! The mere thought... Couldn't they at least scrub those fly toes?

[edit] Animal Crossing: City Folk

Hoo, you are aware that flies also serve as an important source of data for the academic world? Their simple structures make hem rather ideal organisms to use in many experiments, wot? So remember, next time you see a fly, know that it's more than a bug that just flies around dumpsters!

[edit] Real Life

In real life, the Musca Domestica(House Fly)are one of the most common of it’s species and have spread throughout the entire world since they evolved 65 million years ago. These bugs are not generally known for their cleanliness and have the potential to carry over 100 different diseases.
