Sadness is one of the many Emotions that were first introduced in Animal Crossing (GCN) and then later appeared in Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk, which in these later installments could then be used by both the Player and CPUs through Dr. Shrunk(ACWW) and both Dr. Shrunk/Master Frillard(ACCF).

[edit] Appearance

When the Sadness Emotion is activated, the user throws their head down in weary exasperation while a dark purple swirl fades out of their head. While this is happening, the same sound effect that is heard when a Player falls in a Pitfall Seed hole can be heard.

[edit] Animal Crossing: City Folk

Here's Dr. Shrunk's act from his stand-up routine entitled "Sadness":

Thanks you! Thank you! And a HUGE shout-out to my number one fan out there! Dr. Shrunk is in the house!

And if you're SICK of the same old blabbity-blab, have I got a CURE for you! Yeah? Yeah? You can't wait, right? Hello?! Wow, rough crowd! Well, there's no better way to break through the blahs...Than to tell you one of my exciting jokes! Yep, that's what the doctor ordered! You DID come to hear one of my exciting jokes, right? (Eeep, maybe not!). Anyway, get ready to feel the excitement! OK then! Ahem! (I'm bombing up here!). Um, ahem. Have I ever got a serious case of the blues today! Wanna know why? It all started at midnight last night! I was trying to fall asleep, so I was counting sheep: 98...99...100! And just THEN, I heard a voice out of nowhere! ("Shrunk...Shrunk...Shrunk!"). Yes! There was a GHOST in the room! So, I hid under the covers! And then the ghost called out again! ("No more...JOKES!"). Can you believe it? I even get booed from the beyond!

Sigh. The doctor is OUT.
