The Shark is a rare fish first with a fin that was introduced in Animal Crossing: Wild World and then made a return in Animal Crossing: City Folk.

[edit] Player

This is what you player says when you catch a Shark:

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

I caught a shark! It was a shark attack!

[edit] Animal Crossing: City Folk

I caught a shark! Check out that toothy grin!

[edit] Menu

This is what the menu will say when you catch a Shark:

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

"They lose and replace their teeth often. Their teeth, however, are actually scales."

[edit] Animal Crossing: City Folk

"These have rows of teeth that can be replaced indefinitely. Lucky shark!"

[edit] Museum

If you donate this fish to the Museum, Blathers will say this:

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

"Shark flesh is often used in processed seafood products, eh wot? As such, you might wonder why it isn't grilled like other fish, am I correct? Well, shark tends to reek of ammonia, you know. And that is NOT good."

[edit] Animal Crossing: City Folk

If one were so inclined, one could sit around pulling shark teeth all day. They simply keep growing back! I've heard that over a shark's million year lifetime, it will go through thousands of teeth, which is disconcerting. ...Anyhoo, no toothpaste needed! How appropriate for a creature that's been around since the dinosaurs!

[edit] Trivia

  • It does not have to be raining or snowing when trying to catch the shark. Those are the conditions to catch a Coelacanth.
  • The Shark is one of the most valuable fish in the game, along with the Coelacanth, Dorado, and Stringfish who all sell for 15,000 bells.
  • The Shark is the longest fish in the game, measuring 550 centimeters.

[edit] Real Life

In real life, the shark that was presented in the Animal Crossing games is believed to be a Great White Shark. The Great White Shark is one of the world's most famous animals. Its huge jaws and large rows of teeth make it an excellent hunter. Great White Sharks have a healthy diet and often eat other fish, smaller sharks, dolphins, porpoises, and seals. Most of these sharks live on the coast where water temperature is between 12 °C and 24 °C. They have been known to attack humans, but not on purpose, just a "test bite" to see what the object they sense is if they are not familiar with it.
