"Why so blue, Marlin?"

[edit] Menu

These attack their prey using their spearlike snouts.

[edit] Museum

If you donate this fish to the Museum, Blathers will say this:

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

"To be honest, this is the first time that I've seen a proper blue marlin, wot wot! As you can see, its bill is quite dangerous, every year people are injured by them. Still, how can one complain? If you were to drag me out of the museum one night... I assure you, I would give you a pecking you'd not soon forget, hoo!"

[edit] Animal Crossing: City Folk

"Hootie hoo, what a magnificent fish! Look at that sleek, hornlike bill! This fish is quite fast, said to be capable of reaching speeds of up to 62 miles per hour... A regular oceanic speed demon, wot? If you get in its way, beware! It might not be able to stop in time!"

[edit] Trivia

  • The Blue Marlin sells for 10,000 Bells, making it the second most expensive fish in-game, along with a few others.
  • Despite popular rumors, the Blue Marlin does not have a fin like the Shark.
  • The Blue Marlin is about 2.25 meters long.

[edit] Real Life

The Blue Marlin that you see in Animal Crossing is actually a confusion between two different species : the Atlantic Blue Marlin and the Indo-Pacific sailfish. Real marlins don't have a sail that big. True to its name, the Atlantic Blue Marlin live near the Atlantic Ocean. With this tool, it is a great predator, slashing schools of fish with its bill. Typically, the Atlantic Blue Marlin eats other fish such as mackerel and tuna. Sometimes, it will also feed on squids. ===Appearance=== It has a long bill that is like a sword. Female Atlantic Blue Marlins can grow up to be four times bigger than males. The females can live to be up to 27, while the males are likely to live to be 18.
