The Scorpion is a rare bug first introduced in Animal Crossing: Wild World and it then came back in Animal Crossing: City Folk.

[edit] How to Catch

The Scorpion is one of the most difficult bugs to catch because it is fast and attacks you if you have a net equipped. The only time it will come after you is if you have your net out, so you can use this to your advantage. You need to get a good distance away from the Scorpion where you can see it, equip your net, and then when it comes hurling at you, swing the net at the right time. If you do not catch the Scorpion, it will sting you, causing your player to reappear at their house dazed. They can jump over cliffs, holes, and any other obstacle, so do not count on using those to catch the Scorpion. Another way to catch the Scorpion is to run to the bus stop, making sure it does not follow you up there. It cannot jump the bus stop, so you can catch it from there.

[edit] Player

This is what you player says when you catch a Scorpion:

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

"I caught a scorpion! But he didn't catch me!"

[edit] Animal Crossing: City Folk

"I caught a scorpion! He looks kind of crabby to me..."

[edit] Menu

This is what the menu will say when you catch a Scorpion:

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

"Their "tail" is actually a part of their stomach."

[edit] Animal Crossing: City Folk

"Those things that look like tails are actually extensions of their stomachs."

[edit] Museum

If you donate this bug to the Museum, Blathers will say this:

[edit] Animal Crossing: Wild World

"I've heard that a scorpion can be affected by it's own poison, you know. If so, why carry around such dangerous material? Blech! Foolish wretch... If I walked around with a piano above my head, I'd expect to be squashed, wot!"

[edit] Animal Crossing: City Folk

"...Scorpions are assuredly attention getters. They've got those colors that say, "Stay back! I'm poisonous!" However, it seems only a tiny group of scorpions have venom lethal enough to off you with one sting. Mischievous scorpions that look like highly poisonous ones probably fooled folks into thinking otherwise."

[edit] Trivia

  • The Scorpion is one of the three harmful bugs; alongside the Bee, the Tarantula, and the Mosquito.
  • The Scorpion is one of the most expensive bugs, being worth a hefty sum of 8,000 Bells.

[edit] Real Life

The Scorpion has around 2,000 species of its kind. They are found around New Zealand and Antarctica mainly. The average span of a scorpion's life could be anywhere from 4 - 25 years old. They can survive freezing weather and blazing heat. They have a stinger on their back that they use to stun their prey.
